Bulk email advertising is the best way to advertise your products or services on the internet. Unfortunately, the system has been abused too much and nowadays SPAM, or Unsolicited Commercial Email (UCE) as it's also known, is on the menu for alot of people. It seems that any email address that's posted on the internet is viewed as fair game by spammers. Addresses are gathered by 'spam-bots' which crawl the internet gathering addresses for a spammer. It is better to try and protect your email address by hiding it from the spam-bots and this can be done a number of ways. You can substitute the @ sign for the html special character code which is @ and/or you could use javascript to 'hide' the address, or use a form on your website instead of your address as I have done. I found that soon after one of my email addresses went up on the web (when I posted an advert for an item that I was selling), I started receiving rubbish that I never asked for! If you are recieving alot of spam, you can make the spammers think you no longer exist by bouncing back the email so it looks like your address has been closed down. Now with any online business, you need leads. The easiest way to get them is to subscribe to sites that have FFA (Free For All) pages. These gather the email addresses of people that post to the pages (the majority are new webmasters wanting to market their site) and who have agreed to recieve a confirmation email. The list of posters' emails is either emailed to you or downloaded from the FFA site. Otherwise you can purchase the leads, the best program for this that I have found so far is ISORegister which has leads available for half a cent each!
